On May 11th, part of the UP/innoFSPEC team (Anika Krause, Katlen Brennenstuhl, Justin Koenig, Marvin Münzberg, and Sebastian Zimmermann) visited the industrial site of NanoPAT partner Evonik (Thomas Pelster, Hilmer Tasto, and Julie Michaud-Bernlochner) in Wesseling (Germany), within the framework of the Case Study 2 of the project, real-time in-situ monitoring of the genesis of nanostructured silica under different precipitation conditions.
After a guided tour through the R&D labs and Evonik’s silica section, they planned together the technical implementation of the PDW technology in Evonik’s labs, potentially working towards having PDW spectrometry as a new PAT in the silica production process.
