The week March 18th to 22nd several valuable activities took place in Brussels, having Andreas Falk from BNN physically there to bring process analytical technologies from NanoPAT to the stakeholder groups at these events. Besides the European Standardisation activities of CEN, Technical Committee 352, which discussed on the NanoPAT technologies (more details here), the European Commission held important stakeholder events.
The week kicked off with the EIC Summit 2024, awarding successful women with the “European Prize for Women Innovators”, discussing the future directions (e.g., advanced materials) of R&I funding that will support resilience and prosperity of Europe. Aside of the EC-events, also the board of the European Technology Platform on Sustainable Chemistry (ETP-SusChem) met in Brussels, discussing the next strategic steps including the implementation of the Transition Pathway for the chemical industry and how to maintain and expand the national technology platforms which are a unique value of ETP-SusChem.
The Summit was followed by the Belgian Presidency Conference on Innovation Procurement, especially relevant item for process analytical technologies to pave their way to the market.
The final part of that week in Brussels has been on March 20th-21st, 2024 the European Research & Innovation (R&I) Days 2024. This year’s R&I Days gave an exciting opportunity to discuss how to enhance Europe’s competitiveness, sustainability, and equity, celebrating 40 years of research and innovation achievements since the first R&I Framework Programme began. More than 750 registered participants had the chance to discover EU-funded projects which have brought groundbreaking and innovative solutions for our societies, underscoring the importance of EU-funding in forging a brighter future. The event not only showcased the impact of these projects, but also provided insights from high-level speakers. All week the EC offered the opportunity for “speed-dating” (b2match-platform), which was used by Andreas Falk to promote relevant competencies, e.g., the process analytical technologies (PATs) developed in NanoPAT.
