The Athens Conference on Advances in Chemistry (ACAC2022), was held on 26 June – 1 July 2022 in Athens, Greece, in the campus of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). This conference is the third of a series of International Conferences that were initiated on the occasion of the centennial anniversary of the Department of Chemistry at NKUA since its establishment in 1918.
The conference was a forum for exchange of the latest knowledge concerning chemistry and related areas among researchers from all over the world. Chemistry has expanded into many multidisciplinary research areas involving large numbers of chemists, physicists, biologists and medicinal scientists.
A highly interesting program on the latest topics ensured through several plenary, keynote, and invited lectures, contributed talks, and poster presentations attracted many experts of academia and industry, as well young researchers, attracted by the Early Career Researcher evening event, created the perfect atmosphere for exchanging innovative ideas and initiating new collaboration. Around 300 participants attended the conference.
NanoPAT was represented in the event. Katerina Mavronasou, from Cnano, presented a poster (no. 85), under the title “Use of a 3D printed auxiliary module for the quality improvement of Ni-P/ SiC nanocomposite coatings”, showing Cnano’s recent work addressing one of the main challenges of composite electroplating, the hydrodynamic conditions, explaining that a 3D printed ABS based obstacle was introduced and the electroplating cell parameters were optimized.
The poster, although presented by Katerina, is the outcome of the work of two undergraduate students (Mrs Koutsoumpari and Mrs Chouliara) who completed their internship with Cnano in May 2022 as part of their B.Sc degree.
NanoPAT project played an important role in this research since Ni-P/ SiC nanocomposite electroplating is a cost-effective, high performance surface engineering approach while 3D printed objects are gaining significant attention in recent days.
Cnano’s poster is available under DOI: 10.5281/zenodo6786791.
